Friendly Kenly Kenly is located on the northeastern edge of Johnston County. The town limits are within two counties, Johnston and Wilson. Kenly is approximately centered between the towns of Smithfield and Wilson on U.S. 301. Raleigh, the state capital, is forty miles west. The town has approximately 2000 residents. Kenly enjoys a proud farming history that is still evident today. The museum has grown to an internationally recognized and accredited museum and today continues to interpret and present this important rural legacy to the public. The Buckhorn Reservoir is located off Highway 581 on State Road 1142. The property consists of 850 acres of water and 350 acres of land.
