Friendly Kenly
Kenly is located on the northeastern edge of Johnston County. The town limits are
within two counties, Johnston and Wilson. Kenly is approximately centered between the towns of Smithfield and Wilson on U.S. 301. Raleigh, the state capital, is forty miles west. The town has approximately 2000 residents. Kenly enjoys a proud farming history that is still evident today. Kenly is home to the Tobacco Farm Life Museum which has been showcasing the community’s heritage for over twenty-five years.

Tobacco Farm Life Museum (709 Church Street, Kenly). The Tobacco Farm Life Museum was started by a group of local families who had pride in their past and a strong volunteer spirit. Having seen the way of life of their parents and grandparents becoming obsolete, these families wanted to preserve this personal and special history of the Eastern North Carolina flue-cured tobacco farm family for future generations. The museum has grown to an internationally recognized and accredited museum and today continues to interpret and present this important rural legacy to the public.
KAPARC (Kenly Area Parks & Recreation, 206 W. Second Street, Kenly). KAPARC offers four ball fields, multi-use field, two tennis courts and a hlf-mile walking trail.
Cardinal Country Club (363 Parrish Memorial Rd., 919-284-3647). A semi-private golf facility that offers a challenging yet fair test.
Buckhorn Lake. The Buckhorn Reservoir is located off Highway 581 on State Road 1142. The property consists of 850 acres of water and 350 acres of land. Recreation activities include water-skiing, boating, camping and fishing.
